Roger was a special friend and I had the good fortune to work with him for many years at UICOMP. We shared management philosophy about facilitating, transparency, minimizing hassle and teamwork. Those that worked with him in physical plant, security, housekeeping and indeed, all of the areas in the school, reflected those values and admired his good work and how comfortable it was working with him.
On a personal level we enjoyed reminiscing and sharing stories. I remember well our weekly excursions to Big John’s and the Rib Sandwiches. We took his metro a couple of times. Once we went and brought back a rib sandwich, with ribs, for someone (?). We enjoyed the comments about it for a long time after
